Hi Cream!
Focalblade is a sharpening plug-in, NeatImage is a de-graining utility. Not the same, but have my highest recommendations. With my "worst" images, I will often use NeatImage first to "clean" the image, then use FocalBlade to sharpen the edges again, as NI tends to blur edges in it's effort to remove the graininess. On "good" images, FocalBlade makes them GREAT, extremely sharp. Both tools have the ability to flex, more grain removal or less, much sharper or just some. I believe 'Blade uses a fractal algorithm, so creates less noise and other artifacts.
Both have trial versions, but I personally love them so much, I paid for the "real" thing. Hmmm, that's about as big a praise as I can offer....
Have a great one!

Posting a bit now and again, on photoSIG! (Thanks for the heads-up, by the way).

Thanks for the 's and nice comments on 'Some More Morning Blues' and 'Pileated Woodpecker' and thanks for adding me to your friends list. I used the Canon 75-300 IS lens on the woodpecker and the Canon 100mm macro on the blue. I also have the Canon MP-E 65mm dedicated macro you have been talking about. It is a great lens and does definately require a good tripod.

This life is a test. If it were real, you would have been given further instruction as to where to go and what to do.
